Honda hybrid models became available on the market in 1990’s and they were introduced in the United States in 1999. Honda Insight opened the road, quickly followed by the response of Toyota with the appearance of the Prius. It seems that Honda hybrid models are not sold as well as the Toyota ones although in the United States Honda is the undisputed leader. One Honda hybrid that set a record in terms of selling in 2004 is the Civic Hybrid. The number of Honda hybrid models sold on the market since 1999 when Insight was released until 2006 surpassed that of 100,000. Most of these models have found owners in the United States, next come Japan, Europe and Canada.
The Accord Honda hybrid saw the market daylight in 2004. This way people could enjoy the Honda hybrid cars more extensively and with a greater variety. It has presented the company in North America with quite a great deal of success and worldwide it has become a favorite among hybrid models. All in all, like any other hybrid model, the Honda hybrid models are also very environmentally friendly. The emission level they release into the air is lower and thus our urban environment is much more protected from this point of view. As a result of reducing pollution and noise, fewer people will have to suffer from various illnesses or respiratory problems caused by exhaust gases. The only problem that Honda hybrid models and other companies’ designs have in common is that the batteries are highly dangerous for the environment. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we stick to the instructions to what it is allowed to do and what not with those batteries.
