Used Cars Suddenly Aren’t So Cheap When They Have Gearbox Problems

March 5th, 2010

Buying a car is always an exciting experience, and whether it’s new or used, there are many different great value buys on the market today. However, when you buy used cars you have to question if this is going to increase your chance of having gearbox problems. Indeed, the used car costs less in the first place, but when you have gearbox problems to deal with, you’re inevitably going to find it costs a lot more.

New cars on the other hand are always going to stand a better chance of working efficiently without the need for too many repairs. It seems only logical to assume that brand new cars won’t have problems with them. Having said that, some people are a little wary of buying new cars that haven’t been “run in” yet, and that’s why many like to buy a car that has a couple of hundred miles on it to show that it has been used and is working fine. A new car could have problems, but the chances are minimised because everything is ‘new’. The higher the mileage then the more chance you have of experiencing gearbox problems and suchlike.

There’s a very basic premise here, in that things that get used more frequently could go wrong much sooner. Gearbox problems are quite common though and tend to occur often with vehicles aged over 5 years old. Look out for signs like sounds that might indicate the gearbox is faulty. Get it booked into a garage straight away so they can take a look. You might find the gearbox repair costs more the longer you leave it.

Bear in mind that gearbox problems can be very expensive to repair and so it is best to check the car over thoroughly before you buy it. A thorough test drive should help you to identify if everything sounds okay with the vehicle. If you have any reservations, speak with the car dealership you are thinking of purchasing from.

DIY Isn’t The Right Attitude Towards Car Gearbox Repairs

March 5th, 2010

When it comes to a car gearbox, many people think they can handle it going wrong. It’s just the gearbox, right? Wrong. If you’re a mechanic then by all means go ahead with it, but if not, avoid getting messy with something you don’t really understand. If you need any car gearbox repairs, there should only be one place that you’re headed to, and that’s the nearest garage.

Don’t get despondent if you like to DIY and cant sort your own car out, for there are other things you can experiment with. Try repairing the guttering or fixing the leaking tap. You might not be able to rectify the problem but at least they pose less of a danger than trying to do car gearbox repairs. Even the most knowledgeable of people won’t be able to sort a gearbox out unless they have been properly trained, so bear this in mind. Thankfully, the mechanics are the ones to talk to about any gearbox problems, which takes the pressure off you having to do it. As the gearbox is the main function of the car, not repairing it properly could seriously damage the motor and it would be highly dangerous. And if it’s the cost that’s worrying you, it is a small price to pay for getting your gearbox professionally repaired.

In fact, when it comes to anything car-related, one should never consider DIY as an option. Doing it yourself doesn’t guarantee success and if something goes wrong then you don’t want to be driving a dangerous car. Bear in mind that cars are not things to be played with and safety should always be paramount. There are enough hazards to avoid on the roads, without having to worry about your car being dangerous!

Car gearbox repairs can be short or long jobs, but no driver can estimate just how long it might take to fix, or indeed, how severe the problem is. If you were to DIY, you would probably spend all day trying to work out the problem and still never get to the bottom of it. People should enjoy their DIY jobs, not loathe them, and if you attempt car gearbox repairs you certainly won’t find it a pleasurable experience. Get in touch with the local mechanic and see what he can do for you.

Why You Should Really Pop On The Glasses In The Car

February 1st, 2010

There are so many reasons why you should actually wear glasses when you are driving and of course this just doesn’t apply for the people that need them as you can always go after something like cheap glasses.

If of course you already wear glasses then you should certainly be wearing them when you are driving around in your car. If you have a bit of blur when you are out of the car why would it actually be any different when you are driving. I know it sounds like a really obvious thing to do but the thing is, it happens a lot and people just forget to pop on their designer glasses.

Most of the accidents that happen to not occur from the people that are wearing their glasses all of the time but from the people that need them for things like concentrating!

A really good idea is to actually go out and get another pair of glasses to put into the car so you know what to do and you cannot forget them when you are going to leave.

It is not really that surprising to hear that when people are not wearing their glasses they could in fact cause some serious harm to themselves and other people on the road. Many people cannot afford another pair of glasses which is why when you get into the car have realised you havent gotten the glasses you should get out of the car and go and get them.

If you are doing things like this then without a doubt you are going to be cutting down the rate of an accident. Prescription glasses aren’t as expensive as they used to be and there are plenty of cheap online places that offer good quality glasses.

Car Gearboxes Get Fixed For Christmas

January 29th, 2010

With Christmas just around the corner, it makes sense to check that your car is running properly and isn’t causing you any problems. Anything that goes wrong with your car over this festive period limits your travelling distances, so you want to make sure you can still get to the mother in law’s home for Christmas Day. The worst case scenario is that it is your car gearbox that needs changing, and that’s why it is advisable for all drivers to get their car gearboxes checked over.

Xmas On The Cheap

You could view it as an early Christmas present to yourself if you discover that everything is okay with the gearbox. If you’re not so fortunate and find you have to set some money aside for a gearbox replacement this Christmas, it can seem like a sad situation. A new gearbox in your car doesn’t have to be costly though, thanks to some repair centres doing great deals on motor parts this season. Some even have the option of fitting reconditioned gearboxes, which not only save you money, they also do just as good a job when it comes to functionality.

Anyone thinking about going on holiday for Xmas will want to know their car is working and driving fine before they set off, in order to minimise the risk of anything untoward happening such as the gearbox failing. There are actually many people that fall into this category, which isn’t what anyone wants at this festive time of year.

Its Not Just Old Cars…

Also remember that new cars often need gearbox problems and the like sorting out. Some only slightly used cars can develop faults early on and need specialist attention from a gearbox centre. The unlucky people in this world sometimes cringe when they find their newly-purchased car needs gearbox attention. This year, have a happy Christmas by making sure you don’t have to pay for any car gearbox repairs!

Learn To Drive

December 25th, 2009

There are actually many reasons why you should go out and drive and no they are not all about getting a new Audi TT Roadster or of course Audi Cars.

Freedom

Learning to drive gives you the freedom to go pretty much anywhere you want in the entire country which of course means that if you are having an argument with your parents/girlfriend/boyfriend you do not have to be confined to your room/her/his house as you can just get in your car and have a little drive. A lot of people find all of this really nice to do. You have the freedom to get out of the rubbish public transport and get to places for a cheaper price. Of course you have the costs of parking but there are places that offer it for free.

Music

Although it isn’t really a big reason you can have your music as loud as you want it and cranking up your favourite tunes whilst driving is a great thing to do.

Weather

Remember the times in which you had to walk to work when it was chucking it down with rain and you arrived completely drenched only to find yourself dry an hour before you went home by which stage it is still raining? Well of course it isnt going to happen anymore as you can now drive in.

Dump

A car is great at taking things somewhere and taking things to the dump is something that we all have to do in our lifetimes. The car is great as we can carry a lot of things at once.

Friends

You can now give your friends lifts to wherever they need to go! This could be a negative rather than a positive depending on how you look at it.

So go and get yourself one of those used cars and start learning to drive to get all of the freedom and bonuses that come with it!

Dont Drink And Drive This Christmas

December 24th, 2009

Yes you saw that right, you may not think that the police are out in froce on christmas today but they are looking for people who think it is okay to drink and drive on Christmas Day simply because it is Christmas.

The shocking figure is that around the Christmas time 62% of men think that drink driving is perfectly acceptable and 34% of women agree with this. As well as all of this information it has also been released that just over 10% of people would get into a car when they know for a fact the driver has been drinking. This is really stupid as you could end up dead because you got into the car.

Just over 9,000 people were caught doing this in the holiday season and this figure is taken from England and Wales alone. Of course Christmas is a very relaxing time of year but it does not mean the police are going to relax the law on drink driving. Just walk home, everyone else on Christmas Day is doing the same thing!

It is justn ot worthing taking the risk as the police will band you from driving even if it is on Christmas Day and you can be arrested and thrown in prison if you are unlucky. You could end up being the one person that the judge wants to make an example of.

So after all of the festive times have finished make sure that you either walk home or just stay at the place where you are having your Christmas meal at. To make sure you are not tempted just do not take the car.

On the plus side if you are looking at getting a new car it could really be worth looking into car leasing or van leasing as it could save you a lot of money. Of course you could go for the specific manufacturer and look into BMW Leasing

Car Gearbox Repairs Made Easy With Money-Saving Tips

December 17th, 2009

Like many people, saving money is of paramount importance, but you can easily get despondent when you find that your car is having problems and needs to go in for a repair. For those that have a luxury car, any faults can be very costly and you might regret buying the expensive car to start with. Another pricey group of cars are 4×4s and some people are having second thoughts before buying a big gas-guzzling vehicle when they read up on what parts may cost. In general, the more expensive the car, the more expensive the parts and repair labour. With this in mind, its all about finding the best way to save money on your vehicle costs. If your gearbox breaks, the best option is to have a reconditioned gearbox fitted.

Running As Good As New

So, for those still new to the idea of a reconditioned gearbox, this is basically something that has been reconditioned to look and operate as though as it was brand new, despite the fact it is technically ‘used’. For those on a budget, something like this can save considerable amounts of money. The best part is that you can’t tell the difference between a brand new one and a reconditioned one, at least not when the motor is running. It will run as good as new and give you the reassurance back that your car is safe to drive again. There is nothing worse than driving with trepidation because you fear the car may break down at any moment. Of course, if the car gearbox isn’t working then you’re unlikely to get very far with it.

A Reconditioned Gearbox – Saving Money Is Good

If you have a manual car then you will have to have a manual reconditioned gearbox fitted, and likewise if you have an automatic car then you will need an automatic gearbox. Usually, the automatic gearboxes will cost more, but this does vary from garage to garage. The good news is that you don’t have to save up for a couple of months in order to afford a reconditioned gearbox, because whether its manual or automatic, you will be saving money since you’re not buying a brand new one. Everyone likes to save money and you probably feel like you have spent enough on your car over the years, so the gearbox going is just something you really cant pay a lot for. However, car repairs are a fact of life and something every driver needs to be aware of. If you want to save money though, there’s no better way of doing it than with a reconditioned gearbox.

Leave It To The Mechanic To Repair Your Car Gearbox Problem

December 17th, 2009

Ever panicked about your car failing on you? It’s a common fear. Many people would panic if something went wrong internally, and if you know more about your car’s aesthetics rather than its inner workings, its likely that you’re going to need a bit of help when something develops a fault. And although men are usually the ones that know more about cars, it is sometimes the case that even they don’t know what do with an internal fault issue like a faulty gearbox. Car gearboxes are notoriously hard pieces of kit for people to get their head round, and just looking at one may surprise you when you learn that it is a main function of the car. There’s no way that you can believe a part like that controls so much. Naturally, if you notice your car’s gearbox isn’t functioning properly, the best thing to do is to check it in at a repair centre immediately.

Nursing Your Car Better

With car faults, the garage will need a certain amount of time to check things over, in which case you may be asked to leave your car overnight. Some people regard it as a hospital admission for their beloved friend. Whereas some won’t bat an eyelid about leaving their car at the garage for open heart surgery, others will get quite distressed about the whole thing.   Trust in the mechanic to make sure your car, and its gearbox, gets nursed back to good health. In most cases, the mechanic will recommend 1 of 3 options for resolving the car gearbox problem, which will either be having a new gearbox fitted, having a reconditioned one put in place or if the fault isn’t bad, the existing gearbox may be able to be replaced. Often, the choice will be up to you about whether you opt for a reconditioned gearbox or a new one putting in place, and it may be a cost-based decision. In the world of car gearbox repairs, cost is always an important factor and a reconditioned gearbox is the cheaper option for all parties concerned.

Safe Driving

So, when you decide what you want the mechanic to do, he will set to work putting some life back into your car. Without the gearbox the car is worthless. Unless you have a really old car that you can just scrap, a gearbox repair is the only thing you can consider in order to get your car working again. Therefore, hand it in to the mechanic and he will work his magic to make it work and look brand new.

Does Your Work Come From A Van?

November 8th, 2009

For anyone owning their own company using a van or even perhaps if you are part of a bigger company we all know how many problems the van can give you at times.

One of the major problems van owners tend to receive is stolen goods from the back of the van. It will really only take somebody a matter of seconds to be able to take thousands of pounds worth of goods. A really good idea is just to make sure you lock every part of the van whenever possible, this includes a ten second dash into the shops as somebody could steal something from you at any possible time.

It has also become very difficult for smokers who have a works fan as you are now no longer able to smoke in a van that is the property of a business. This is partly because people are fed up recieving sofas that stink of smoke and partly because smoking is now seen as a disgusting habit.

If you were to crash your van and items were to break then would your normal insurance actually cover this? Normal insurances like business insurance will not cover you and the office insurance is not going to help you out either.

This is where you can look into getting business vans insurance as this will help you out when it comes to the above problems. Because the insurance is catered around the van itself it will cover you from things like loss of stock as well as collisions and even if a fire breaks out.

If you are serious about looking after your van then just take a look at some of the policies out there for you, some are not expensive at all. An end could come to a business if a lot of stock is stolen from the back of a van.

How Many Years of Driving Experience Do You Need?

October 24th, 2009

There is a huge volume of people who pass their driving tests, but do not know what to expect. So let us take a look at the first initial years of driving and take a look at a few things that you can really expect to happen during the first few years

Year One

The first year is in all likelihood the most nerve racking and most expensive. Your insurance policy premiums are going to go through the ceiling. As well as this you are probably going to end up knocking your car here and then throughout the year. I still have got to come across someone that has not hit their car once or twice during the first year of driving.

Year Two

You are now starting to build up confidence and your driving is getting a lot better. You have probably upgraded your vehicle and your insurance premium has dropped slightly.

Year Four

You are now a fully fledged great driver your confidence has frown over the recent years and you have probably had your great share of speeding tickets and collisions. You are starting to become a bit more of a mature driver.

Year Ten

You are the now a cracking ripen driver, you have built up years of no claims bonuses and your insurance policy premium is near enough nothing, you are allowed to drive every automobile you like and you are in all likelihood now teaching other people to drive in the same way.

Year Forty

This is when you probably start losing it a little and begin to have slower reactions and ultimately see your insurance premiums on the rise again. The best time for cheap driving is probably from the ages of 25 to around the 50 mark. When you’re driving and patience then ultimately begins to deteriorate slightly.

When your old car has had it, why not look at buying or viewing used cars, there are so many different models of Honda or Ford
